Medication and Vaccinations

Important information regarding prescriptions and vaccinations

When you have a week’s supply of tablets left, please telephone 01278 661428 (between and 2pm) call at the surgery, write, order online or fax. If you require your prescription to be posted to you, please enclose an SAE. Please give 24 hours notice of repeat prescriptions, or 48 hours if you have your prescriptions dispensed ready for collection from the surgery. Medication can be collected from the dispensary between 8.30am to 6.00pm. It would be appreciated if you could use the computer form when requesting prescriptions and quote your personal computer number, which is in the top right hand corner. A post box has been provided inside the front door for repeat prescriptions to save queuing at the
dispensary window.

If you are in doubt about your medication, please make an appointment to see your doctor. Remember, it may be cheaper to get a pre-payment card, if you need a lot of prescriptions in the course
of a year.

To obtain urgent medication out of hours and at weekends, please see list displayed in the waiting room. Alternatively, please call NHS 111 for assistance.

It is important that your children are fully immunized against all childhood diseases and clinics are held monthly. Appointments are sent at the appropriate time, but if in doubt ask your Health Visitor.

If you plan to go abroad, please contact us well in advance; it many take two months to fit in a full course of immunisations. This is performed by appointment with the Practice Nurse. Unfortunately we are unable to give travel vaccinations less than 6 weeks prior to travel. Patients will need to access a local Travel Clinic should this be the case.

FREE flu vaccinations for children aged 2,3 and 4 years ( on 1st September 2016) will be available at the Surgery from October 2016. For most children this is now given as a simple nasal spray - not an injection.

Having the vaccine will help to protect your child from what can be a very nasty illness and it will also reduce the chance of others in your family contracting it.

Please ring reception to make an appointment.

Patients living in North Petherton/Bridgwater do not have their medication dispensed by the practice but may collect the paper prescription from the surgery. However, the practice is able to dispense medication for patients living more than one mile from a chemist.
